In 1978 British football saw the introduction of a new publication that would excite fans, young and old - the Panini Football 78 Collector's Album.
Panini wasn't a completely new name on British newsagent shelves, their World Cup albums had been introduced in 1970. Before that, Panini had introduced their first football album for the 1960-61 Italian Serie A season, before gradually rolling their collections across the rest of Europe.
Panini's supplanted FKS as the UK's leading producer of football stickers and albums, a position that they held until the 1990s when Merlin appeared on the scene.
