Biography:
Sam Cowan was a makeweight in the deal that took Dennis Guy from Glenavon to Linfield in November 1963.
As Linfield's back-up 'keeper through the mid-1960s, Cowan had to play second fiddle to Iam McFaul. He enjoyed his best run in the team during the 1964/65 season, playing a total of nineteen games and earned selection for Amateur Ireland as stand-in for Distillery's Jack Kennedy.
