Biograph:
Elder brother of Pat Jennings...
"My eldest brother Brian ... was a winger who went on to become a regular amateur international with Northern Ireland, and could easily have made the grade as a professional in England. But he complied with my parents' wishes to concentrate on his education, got his degree at Manchester University and is now a schoolteacher. So he remained an amateur throughout a lengthy Irish League career with Coleraine."
Pat Jennings (1983)

Brian could also claim responsibility for Pat's whole career, having talked him into attending a training session with Newry United (Newry Town's reserve team).

Played golf with this man today ..a real gentleman ....and he beat me !
Brian was known as "Arkle" by us Coleraine Faithfull back in the 70's
A real gentleman. He recognised me one day as I did a delivery to his school. He was on playground duty and saw me unloading food for the kitchen. Came over for a brief chat.
I met his brother Pat when I was living in London and taking part at a charity event at the old White City Stadium. I asked Pat for his autograph. He recognised my accent and we discussed Northern Ireland and Coleraine in particular. He asked my name.
I was home a few weeks later at the Showgrounds after a game, in the social club. Brian came up to me and said "Here, our Pat says you and him were doing charity work in London together...."
I said to Brian " Oh yeah, , for the British Heart Foundation at the White City...."
My mates stood there, in silence, gob smacked that I had been with Pat Jennings, the Norn Iron keeper and had said nothing to them.
Brian said" Pat sends his regards to you. Was nice to meet someone from the oul country at the charity event he said"
That was Brian "Arkle" Jennings, a down to earth, lovely guy
I was ribbed the whole way home by my mates

I watched Brian play in the Blaxnit Cup Final for Coleraine against Shamrock Rovers at Windsor Park, Belfast back in 68/69 season . I’ve been a football fan for most of my 77 years and have witnessed some terrific moments in the game, N Ireland beating Spain in ‘82 Republic beating Italy. I saw Best at his best right in front of my eyes. I’ve seen wonder goals by Pele, Maradona, Steven Gerrard ( ynwa) etc etc, but I’ve never in my life seen a better goal than the one Brian scored that night from a full 45 yards and it was still rising as it hit the net. The stadium erupted in spontaneous applause that seemed to last an eternity.
Just a shame that no film exists of it ( though he scored another scorcher a few weeks later on Irish League duty ( v Ards I think) BBC cameras were at it.
Any Brian, thanks for that goal and the chance to tell hundreds of people about it even now 🦵⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️🥅
