Biography:
Michael Ward joined Dungannon Youth as a 12 year-old and it was from there he moved to Leeds United. Having won Schoolboy international recognition while attending Omagh Christian Brothers Grammar School, he never progressed beyond the reserves at Elland Road and he returned home to sign for Omagh Town in 2003. Ward, who combined his early career with his law studies, had a brief but unhappy spell with Newry in 2004 before returning to St Julian's Road. It was at Dungannon Swifts that Ward finally really found his feet at senior level and 16 goals in the 2005/06 season saw him called up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad and he played the second half in a 1-0 win over Scotland at Drumahoe.
Ward was released by Dungannon mid-way through the following campaign. Eventually he signed for Glentoran.
