Biography:
Jim Ervin joined Linfield, where he had served as a ball boy, in August 2004 after being released by Nottingham Forest. A little over a week later he won the first of two Northern Ireland Under-21 caps.
In almost a decade at Windsor Park Ervin claimed every honour the local game has to offer, most of them several times over. He made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Ards on 14 August 2004 but had to wait until 19th August 2006 to score his first goal, coming on as a late substitute in a 4-1 win over Distillery. In 2009/10 he managed a career best eleven goals, an impressive total for a right-back.
Ervin signed a one year contract-extension at Windsor Park in May 2013, but he then struggled for a regular place in the Blues' team. He made his final Linfield appearance in a 1-0 defeat by Dungannon on 16th November that year and he reluctantly negotiated his release the following January. As a free-agent he was sought after by Coleraine and Ballymena, but it was the latter that claimed his signature.

On 22nd January 2022 Ervin made his 600th Irish League appearance as Carrick lost 3-0 to Coleraine.
