Biography:
New Lodge Road man Martin Donnelly had a remarkable 2008/09 season. His displays from the left-wing brought praise from all quarters and a call-up to the Northern Ireland B squad. He was unable to take-up his position in the squad as the match conflicted with the Irish Cup final where Crusaders defeated Cliftonville. He was rewarded with a full cap as a late substitute in an end-of-season friendly with Italy. Donnelly was transfer-listed by Crusaders manager Stephen Baxter in January 2011 and joined Cliftonville at the end of the season.

He made 278 appearances for the Reds, winning two titles, four League Cups and two Co Antrim Shields. He joined big-spending Championship side Larne during the 2017/18 mid-season transfer window and aided them to promotion the following season.

In 2021 he joined Linfield on a two-year contract, but after an injury ravaged season he announced his retirement in June 2022.
