This match was played less than a month before the end of the First World War to raise money for the Prisoners of War Fund and the Ulster Volunteer Force Hospital.
Three of the Irish team had won caps prior to the war and another six were to be capped when international football-proper resumed.
The England side were captained by Ireland's Billy McCracken and contained two pre-war internationals and one future cap.
