Biography:
A dashing winger and successful track sprinter, William “Pal” Moore’s speed belied his strength and well built frame. Capped as a junior international while with Brantwood, he had great success with Glentoran during the Great War claiming a League title, Irish Cup and a host of other honours.

Moore’s goalscoring ways drew the attentions of cross-channel clubs and in 1920 he joined Scottish Division One side, Falkirk. It was during his time at Brockville that he added a “full” cap to his collection, lining out against Scotland in March 1923. He formed a fine left-wing partnership with Billy Gillespie as the Irish were unlucky to lose out in front of 30,000 fans at Windsor Park by a single goal. Despite his admirable performance that proved to be Moore’s only international appearance.

After a little over a year with Division Three (North) Lincoln City, Moore returned to the Irish League in 1925 to join Ards. In early 1926 he was back at the Oval with Glentoran and despite his advancing years his renewed zest and continued effectiveness in front of goal drew praise from all quarters.

Moore passed away in his hometown of Ballyclare in August 1932; he was just 37 years-old.
