Biography:
The youngest of the Gordon brothers, Hugh represented Ireland three times at full-back and half-back. He made his debut in the same team as eldest brother, Tom, in a 9-0 defeat by England. Hugh won his final cap as captain of the side that drew 3-3 with Scotland in March 1896, the first time Ireland had managed to avoid defeat at the hands of the Scots. His cap tally would have been four had he not withdrawn from the squad to face Wales due to a late illness in March 1895.

Hugh played alongside his brothers in some of Linfield's earliest successes as the club dominated the first Irish League championships, before joining Distillery in the 1898 close-season.
