Biography:
George Gaukrodger was just 17 years and 99 days old when he ran out for his only international against Wales in March 1895. He marked the occasion with a goal in a 2-2 draw, making him Ireland's fourth youngest ever player, and second youngest ever goalscorer.

1894/95 proved a high-point in Gaukrodger's footballing career. He was the Irish League's joint-top scorer with four goals (from six games), and rounded of the "Double" with the final goal of Linfield's 10-1 Irish Cup Final win over Bohemians. From then-on Gaukrodger's main attentions fell on cricket, and he played over a hundred first-class matches in England.

Hi. Do you have a source for saying this isn't George, or even better, an actual photo of him?

Please email me at jcd.nifg(at)gmail.com.

On Wikipedia it says that George Gaukrodger was born in Kirkburton, Yorkshire, on the 11th of September 1877.
You say Belfast on the 7th of December 1877.
I wonder who's right?

Hi

I notice in this old thread that you mention that George Gaukrodger had a brother, who also played for Linfield.

Would this brother have the initials J. A. by any chance?

I have a note of a J.A> Gaukrodger playing for Northern Nomads FC in 1902 and am not sure whether it is a misprint in a contemporary newspaper or a different player.

Hope you can help

If this is not George, could you confirm that it is his younger brother Jack? Thanks
