Biography:
A teenage star in the Irish League, Joe Enright was part of the summer 1910 Irish "invasion" of Leeds. Within weeks Leeds' boss Frank Scott-Walford signed Bill Gillespie from Institute, Alec Creighton from Distillery and from Shelbourne arrived Enright and teammate, Mick Foley. Adept anywhere in the forward line, Enright scored ten times in his first season at Elland Road, but the club had to settle for a mid-table spot in Division Two.

The following season Enright again scored into double-figures, but Leeds were in crisis and finished nineteenth in the Second Division, leaving the club in the embarassing position of having to apply for re-election to the League. The appointment of the legendary Herbert Chapman as manager for the 1912/13 season steadied the Leeds team, and they managed sixth spot in his first season. By then however Enright had largely drifted out of the first team picture. He was later re-signed by Scott-Walford, then manager of Coventry City. In November 1914 he scored four times as Coventry defeated his ex-club, Newport, 10-1 in the Southern League.

Capped by Ireland, along with club-mate Joe Moran, for the only time in March 1912, Enright finished on the end of a 4-1 defeat by Scotland at Windsor Park and was castigated in the press as "the greatest failure on the Irish side" - perhaps unsurprisingly he was never capped again. Earlier in his career he had played twice as a teenager for the Irish League, finishing on the end of defeats by the Football League (1-8) and the Scottish League (0-2) in October 1909.

During the Great War Enright served with the Army in the RAOC until 1919 and also regularly guested with his hometown club, Athlone. After the War he settled back in Ireland.
