One might argue that, strictly speaking, the first Northern Ireland competitive match to be postponed because of weather was the World Cup match against Italy in December 1957 which did not take place because the referee was fogbound and did not arrive on time. The (very unfriendly) friendly match that ensued was not the World Cup match, which was postponed and played the following month - or is that stretching things a bit?

You'd be splitting hairs there Tubby, though it's a fair observation!
