Biography:
A former Linfield youth-team player and regular through the Northern Ireland youth set-up, Michael McLellan joined Preston North End's Academy in 2009. He appeared for Northern Ireland at the 2011 Milk Cup and was promoted to the Under-21 squad that September. In December 2011 he joined Conference North side Workington in order to gain some experience.

Released by Preston in July 2012, he returned home, playing friendlies for Ballymena and Portadown. He then signed a permanent deal with Portadown but was released after a fruitless season at Shamrock Park and signed for Ballymena on a one-year deal early in the 2013/14 season. He scored his first NIFL Premiership goal on his Sky Blues debut in a 2-1 win over the Ports.

McLellan dropped down to the NIFL Championship with Harland & Wolff Welders where he re-found his form. He scored 74 goals in a season-and-a-half before joining Linfield in January 2016.
