A strongly built striker, Jordan Owens has been a key figure in Crusaders recent successful sides. In May 2009 he was part of the Irish Cup winning side and the following January he scored an extra-time winner in a Co. Antrim Shield final victory over Linfield. He was the Irish League's second-equal top scorer in 2010/11 with nineteen goals.

A member of Northern Ireland's 2008 Milk Cup winning side, Owens' was also previously capped at Under-23 level - he scored in a 2-0 Challenge Trophy win over Poland in August 2010. He received his first senior call-up for the May 2011 Carling Nations Cup matches against the Republic of Ireland and Wales. He came off the bench against Wales to join Crusaders teammates Colin Coates and Stuart Dallas - the first time three Crues players had featured in an international fixture.

In December 2015 he scored his 157th goal for Crusaders in a 3-1 victory over Coleraine at Seaview, so equaling the Glenn Hunter's club record. On 9th January he took the record with a goal in a 3-0 Irish Cup win over Rathfriland Rangers.
