Notes:
Israel have been members of UEFA since 1991. Prior to this they were members of AFC from 1956 until they were expelled in 1974 due to Arab/Muslim-Israeli political tensions. Through the 1970s and 1980s they competed in either UEFA or OFC World Cup qualification tournaments, though even while members of AFC they seldom competed against other AFC nations for a World Cup place.
