Promoted from the Swifts to Linfield's senior side on the departure of Dick Keith to Newcastle, Ken Gilliland outlasted a number of pretenders to the number two shirt in twelve seasons at Windsor Park. He claimed all seven "domestic" medals in the 1961/62 season.

Biography:
Promoted from the Swifts to Linfield's senior side on the departure of Dick Keith to Newcastle, Ken Gilliland outlasted a number of pretenders to the number two shirt in twelve seasons at Windsor Park. He claimed all seven "domestic" medals in the 1961/62 season.
As well as a host of domestic honours, he also represented the Irish League thirteen times, the Irish FA against the Army, the County Antrim FA against the Sheffield FA and collected both Amateur and Junior international caps. In addition he was considered for selection for Northern Ireland's senior side in 1961.
Gilliland was released by Linfield at the end of the 1969/70, but soon returned to Windsor Park as Linfield Rangers coach in 1972. A draughtsman at Harland & Wolff, he lived in Donaghadee.
