Biography:
Son of former Oldham forward Eric Magee, Jonathan first played Irish League football as a teenager with Glenavon then Linfield, two more of his father's ex-clubs. Seldom a regular starter, Magee proved prolific from the bench, but eventually he left for Bangor in search of more regular football. Strong in the air, he hit double figures in his first half-a-season with the Seasiders and also claimed an Irish Cup winner's medal following an epic series of games against Ards. The following season he scored twenty times and was selected by Bryan Hamilton for an Under-21 game with Romania. In the summer of 1993 he also represented British Universities in a tour to the USA and he also represented both Northern Ireland and Ireland Universities.
Also an accomplished cricketer, Magee won the NCU Senior Challenge Cup with Lurgan in 1989.
Dr. Jonathan Magee is now a senior lecturer in Sports Coaching and Development at the University of Central Lancashire.
