Biography:
Formerly a regular at Under-21 level, James McClean earned his first senior international call-up in August 2011 after an impressive season with Derry City. He has also recently earned admiring glances from several English clubs, with Peterborough and Wigan both showing an interest. It now seems almost certain that he will join Sunderland. A few days before the Faoe Islands he withdrew from the Northern Ireland squad stating his desire to play for the Republic of Ireland.
