Biography:
Elder brother of Jackie Mahood, Stanley was larger but no-less skillful than his brother. The duo, described as "the most consistent and reliable pair in Irish football", though raised in the shadow of Linfield's Windsor Park, enjoyed their most productive spell with Belfast Celtic. From inside-forward Stanley scored over a century of goals for Celtic and was part of the team that claimed all the major trophies in the 1925/26 season. Both brothers scored in the 1926 Gold Cup final win over Cliftonville and Stanley managed a brace in a 4-2 win over Glasgow Celtic on 3rd May 1927.

Capped once by Ireland at Amateur level, Stanley lined-up alongside Jackie at Solitude for a 3-2 defeat by England in November 1924. Two of Stanley's four Irish League representative appearances - against the Scottish League in 1928 and the League of Ireland in 1929 - were also made in the same eleven as Jackie.

In the early-1930s Stanley played with Derry City before he was re-united with Jackie at Ballymena in 1933. In 1934 Ballymena went into liquidation and the Irish League took ownership of all their professional players, including Mahood. While the "new" Ballymena United had first refusal on all of these players, Mahood was never registered with the new club.
