Born in the Shore Road area, Ray Gough unsurprisingly began his senior football career with Crusaders. He moved to Linfield, along with Bobby Braithwaite, for a fee of £400 in April 1957.
In 1961/62 he was part of Linfield's historic Seven Trophy team. He was capped at every possible level excluding senior international, but was a reserve for a match against England.

Biography:
Born in the Shore Road area, Ray Gough unsurprisingly began his senior football career with Crusaders. He moved to Linfield, along with Bobby Braithwaite, for a fee of £400 in April 1957.
In 1961/62 he was part of Linfield's historic Seven Trophy team. He was capped at every possible level excluding senior international, but was a reserve for a match against England.
After close to 170 first team and 56 Swifts appearances, Gough had a spell in Canada before playing in the Football League with Millwall. He hung up his boots in 1971 and settled in Exeter.
