Biography:
Jimmy Moore signed for Ards as an outside-left from hometown club, Bangor Abbey. At Castlereagh Park he "developed into one of the best backs in the Irish League", gaining Amateur caps and an Irish Cup winner's medal in 1952 as Glentoran were defeated 1-0 in the final at Windsor Park. Two years later he was part of the Ards squad that won the Gold Cup, but he was not in the team that defeated Distillery in the final.
Despite his Bangor-birth, Moore was considered a "local boy" by the Ards followers as his father, himself a former full-back, had been born in Newtownards. He was awarded a testimonial match against Drumcondra in 1957 as Ards, strengthened by guest players including Newcastle United star Jackie Milburn, ran out 8-0 winners against the Dubliners.
