Biography:
Brother of Tommy Forde, Hugh got his break in the Irish League with Ards after being signed from Distillery Reserves. After a season back with Distillery, during which he claimed his first Amateur cap, he joined Glenavon for whom he played in some of their greatest successes. In 1960 he travelled to Rome as a member of the Great Britain Olympic team. Started out as an inside-forward before converting the archetypal attacking half-back.

His grandson, Joseph Forde, is now a professional football in Australia, and has represented the Socceroos at underage level.
