Biography:
Jackie Cummings was perhaps most familiar to Irish League fans as a BBC TV and radio commentator from the 1970s to the 2000s. Prior to this he was a coach of Northern Ireland's youth team and spent six years managing in Denmark; and even before this he played as left-half or left-back with Ards, Glenavon, Cliftonville and Distillery.

After finishing his playing career in 1970, Cummings took up a prior invite to work in Denmark. He spent two years in charge of Aarhus before taking over at B1903 Copenhagen. He returned to Northern Ireland in 1976 and took charge of the Northern Ireland's Youth and Irish Universities teams while also running local sportswear firm, Octopus.

In the 1980s his lilting voice made him a popular presence behind the microphone. Following his death in 2008 BBC NI head of sport Mike Edgar paid tribute to Jackie’s career which spanned almost three decades describing him as “a charming, knowledgeable, witty and warm man”.
