Captain of Ireland's Amateur XI in their first post-Second World War international, John Wilson was a "tough as teak" defender for Cliftonville through the 1940s and 1950s. He rejected a multitude of lucrative offers to remain as an amateur at Solitude and remains a Reds legend.
