Pepys "International Whist" Game from 1947/48 featured eleven players from each of the Home Nations...




The hooped socks in this collection have been queried. While it is a look most familiar with the FAI's Eire team, it was worn (at least) once by the IFA's select, vs England in 1947. This is definitely an IFA side as although Tommy Breen, Bill Gorman, Con Martin, Jackie Vernon, Johnny Carey, Alex Stevenson and Dave Walsh were all "Dual Internationals", Jim Feeney, Davy Cochrane, Peter Doherty and Norman Lockhart only ever played for the Northern team.
