Biography:
Capped for the only time in the Ibrox Disaster Fund match against Scotland at Balmoral Showgrounds in August 1902, George Cochrane was given his chance as Ireland were unable to obtain the release of their English-based players for a match being held outside of the normal International Championship dates.

Cochrane twice played in the Irish Cup Final for Cliftonville. In the 1900 final the Reds, who received a bye through the semi-final after their opponents, Kings Own Scottish Borderers, were called up for the Boer War, defeated Bohemians 2-1 in front of a 5,500 strong crowd at Grosvenor Park. In the following year's final, played at the same venue against Freebooters, another Dublin-based club, Cliftonville triumphed 1-0.
