Biography:
An accomplished all-round sportsman, William Turner also played cricket for Ireland. He played in successive Irish Cup Finals for Cliftonville, scoring in the 3-1 1887 Final defeat by Ulster and claiming a winner's medal the following season as Distillery were defeated 2-1.

Capped three times by Ireland, all on the left-hand side of attack, Turner finished on the end of heavy defeats on each occasion.
