Biography:
Scottish-born George McClure played for Ireland five times (including one amateur international appearance). He made his name at left-half with Cliftonville where he played in the 1907 Irish Cup Final win over Shelbourne and also made two appearances for the Irish League.

In 1908 McClure turned professional with Distillery where he won his final Ireland cap and again played for the Irish League. He failed to add further club honours to his collection, finishing on the losing side to his former club in the Charity Cup. McClure finished on the losing side in each of his eight appearances in major representative matches.

The money McClure earned playing professional football was put to good use as it covered his indentures as a solicitor.
