Biography:
John McClatchey was among the founder members of Distillery FC, and left-winger in their first ever match, a 1-0 win over Dundela on 11th December 1880. He remained a regular in the club’s forward-line for the next decade, winning five trophies and scoring twice in the 5-4 Irish Cup Final win over YMCA in 1889. He was an active committee-man with Distillery, and was one of those responsible for taking the club to Grosvenor Park in 1889.

Capped three times for Ireland, McClatchey was later followed in both the Distillery and Ireland teams by his younger brother, Tom.
