Biography:
A product of Belfast Boys' Brigade football, Jack Garrett made his senior debut for Distillery in August 1921. He played every match through his first season, normally as a hard-tackling half-back, though he also filled-in at centre-forward with some success.
1925 proved Garrett's most successful year, he won Irish Cup and Gold Cup winner's medals, and made the first of two Inter-League appearances in a 7-3 defeat by the Scottish League. Even then his call-up to the Ireland squad was a surprise, and he won his only cap as a late deputy for Joe Gowdy in a 0-0 draw with Wales.
Garrett later played with Ards, before dropping down to intermediate level with Broadway United and Crusaders.
