Biography:
A regular goalscorer for a number of clubs, George Reid move to Blackpool from Distillery in 1920. Inevitably nicknamed "Paddy" after arriving in England he managed two goals in three games for the Seasiders before transferring to Walsall. His goalscoring return with the Saddlers was impressive. He managed 22 goals in 1921/22 and had added nine more the following season by the time of his mid-season transfer to Cardiff. He scored on his Bluebirds debut, a 5-1 defeat by Manchester City, but despite a more than respectable goals/game ratio he was unable to guarantee first-team football. While with Cardiff he earned his only cap, when he was part of an Irish forward line who wasted a number of good chances in a 1-0 defeat by Scotland. After leaving Cardiff, Reid had similarly frustrating spells with Fulham and Stockport. He was Rotherham County when they merged with Rotherham Town, but he never played for the new Rotherham United.
