Biography:
You may think that conceding eleven times on your debut would signal an immediate end to an international career - not so for Jack "Cluuie" Clugston. In all he won fourteen caps, conceding a total of 69 goals (an average of almost five per match), and finished on the winning side just once.

As well as his international caps and Irish Cup medals, Clugston also acted as lineman in an international and represented Ireland at lacrosse. Jack worked as a warehouseman in the linen industry, his father, William, having been a linen merchant.

The Newsletter on 31st October 1942 reported "the death of Mr. John Clugston. a former Irish international goalkeeper and lacrosse international, which occurred yesterday afternoon at 2, Seaview Terrace. Holywood" and The Belfast Telegraph noted that "Ireland has lost one of ker most colourful football personalities. He was 73."
