Biography:
A left-sided midfielder or defender, Tony Capaldi was Northern Ireland's regular left-back for the first two-and-a-half years of Lawrie Sanchez's management. Not really a natural in the position he really impressed as Sanchez employed him as a wing-back against Wales in Cardiff in September 2004 and was unlucky to be denied a penalty. When played as a traditional full-back he was often found out of position and was one of the players scapegoated following a humiliating 3-0 defeat by Iceland in September 2006. His place was given to Jonny Evans, a then untried eighteen year-old central defender, and Capaldi has dropped from the international reckoning and has not been included in a Northern Ireland squad since the earliest days of Nigel Worthington.

A big favourite during his time with Plymouth, Capaldi's 21 caps while with the Pilgrims is a club record.

In 2008 Capaldi was part of the Cardiff team that lost in the FA Cup Final against Portsmouth. He was a regular for the Bluebirds as they chased promotion until ruled out by a knee injury during the 2008/09 season. Unable to reclaim a regular place, he joined Leeds United on loan on 26th November 2009 until 4th January 2010. He was released by Cardiff in the summer of 2010. An expected move to Crystal Palace in August 2010 fell through at the eleventh hour.

After several unsuccessful trials, Capaldi joined Sammy McIlroy's Morecambe on 17th September 2010.

Capaldi joined Conference Premier side Tamworth after two injury-hit seasons at Oxford.
