Biography:
A promising young full-back, Conor McLaughlin has played for Northern ireland through the schoolboy and youth teams, making his Under-21 debut as an eighteen-year-old against San Marino in March 2010. Also capable of playing anywhere on the right or in central midfield, McLaughlin was promoted to Preston's senior squad for the first time in September 2009 and signed his first professional contract the following Januray. He made his senior debut in a 2-0 defeat by Hull in November 2010 and thereafter was established in the firstteam until suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during a 4-0 defeat by Bristol City in February 2011. He returned to the field early in the following season and earned his first senior Northern Ireland call-up for the October double-header with Estonia and Italy.

McLaughlin's younger brother Ryan is currently at Liverpool and the pair played alongside each other for Northern Ireland during the 2014 South American tour.

Biography:
A skilful, rangy midfielder, Blackburn-born Adam Barton qualified for Northern Ireland through the parent rule.

Formerly a youth team player with Blackburn Rovers, Barton was released at 16 due to a serious back injury. Preston North End then took a chance and offered him a scholarship then a professional deal, on a two-and-a-half year contract, just prior to his eighteenth birthday. He was first included in Preston's senior squad in March 2009 when he was an unused substitute against Charlton. It was while on loan with Crawley that Barton made his firstteam debut, coming on as a substitute against Luton Town in a 3-0 Blue Square Premier defeat on 1st September 2009. He made his Preston debut, starting against Scunthorpe, on 10th April 2010 but was substituted at half-time following a head injury. Since the start of the 2010/11 season Barton has been a regular at Deepdale and he scored his first goal in a 4-3 defeat by local rivals Burnley on 11th Sptember 2010. Impressive early season form has already seen him linked to a number of Premier League sides.

Barton, who has previously been included in Northern Ireland Under-19 and Under-21 squads, earned his first senior call-up for the double header against Italy and the Faroe Islands in September 2010. A day later he withdrew from the squad hoping to keep his international options open. Two months later he was again called-up by Nigel Worthington as a late inclusion in the squad for a match against Morocco. As this was a friendly, his appearance had not permanently tied his future to Northern Ireland.

In March 2011, despite struggling for form and having been dropped from the Preston firstteam, Barton was called into the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad, making a further mockery of his earlier claims that he wished to retain the option of playing for England.

Barton joined Coventry for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2012. He was released when his contract expired in 2015 and joined Portsmouth.

Biography:
Andrew Little is a versatile youngster called up for the first time for the World Cup Qualifiers against Poland and Slovenia in March/April 2009 as a replacement for injured Rangers teammate, Kyle Lafferty. Comfortable as a striker, attacking midfielder or anywhere in defence, Little previously played in Northern Ireland's successful Milk Cup team, scoring in the 2008 Elite Final win over Chile.

Little made his international debut as a last-minute sub for David Healy against Poland in March 2009, holding up the ball well as Northern Ireland held out for a 3-2 victory. His club debut came a month later, as a substitute forward in Rangers' 3-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Mirren on 25 April. His first start was at right-back in an Old Firm derby in October but picked-up a hamstring injury after just 14 minutes. Little's first firstteam goal was a dramatic injury time equaliser against Hearts in January 2010.

Little continued to prove his versatility, starting on the right wing and at right back against Italy and Albania on the occasions of his second and third caps. He retained the number two shirt for the summer 2009 friendlies against Turkey and Chile.

In August 2011, having been ruled out for much of the 2010/11 season by a hip injury, Little joined Port Vale on loan through to the following January as he sought fitness and match experience. The loan deal was cut short in October after he suffered a knee ligament injury.

Little enjoyed an extended run in the Rangers team toward the end of the 2011/12 season, and found a rich vein of goalscoring form for a comparatively struggling side. With Rangers' parlous financial state and eventual demotion to Division Three in the summer of 2012, Little agreed to remain at Ibrox. He finished 2012/13 as the Scottish Third Division's top scorer.

A second successive promotion was claimed in 2013/14, with Little enjoying a five game goalscoring run early on in the season. His season was then interrupted by a broken cheekbone collected against Dunfermline in November and on his return he struggled for form and a starting place. With Rangers' financial status still uncertain come the summer of 2014 Little was not offered a new deal and he signed for Preston North End.

Little has continued to struggle with injuries after joining Preston, making just eight starts in a season-and-a-half before playing on loan with Blackpool and Accrington Stanley. At the end of the 2015/16 season he was released was without a club until signed by Stirling in February 2017. Things continued to go against him however and after just five appearances he suffered a fractured skull in a training ground accident. He was however offered a new deal for the 2017/18 season.

In parallel with his playing career, since May 2017 Little has coached part-time at Rangers' Academy.

Biography:
In a ten-year international career Steve Robinson won just seven caps, scant reward for one of the most gifted midfield players appearing in the English lower-leagues.

Released by cash-strapped Luton in May 2008, attempts by Robinson to find a new club were scuppered by injury. He was appointed as the IFA's County Londonderry Performance Coach and then became assistant-manager of Northern Ireland's Under-19 side. In January 2012 he was appointed assistant-manager at his home-town club, Lisburn Distillery.

In February 2012 he was appointed as Northern Ireland's Under-21 team manager on a short-term basis. In October he was confirmed as manager of the Under-19 and Under-17 teams. A re-jig of the underage coaching set-ups saw him take charge of the Under-21 and Under-17 teams from April 2013. In early 2014 he stepped down from his role with the Under-21s to work within the IFA's Elite Development Programme. He retained his post as Under-17 manager and also took charge of the Under-16 Schoolboys side. In September 2014 he also joined-up with the senior set-up as coach.

assistant manager, Jimmy Nicholl
Robinson left the Irish FA's Elite Development Programme in February 2015 to take up the post of Motherwell assistant manager, he remained a part of Michael O'Neill's senior international backroom team. In September 2015 he was appointed joint-caretaker-manager at Motherwell along with Stephen Craigan. Shortly after returning from Euro 2016 he quit his Northern Ireland role and was appointed manager at Oldham Athletic, but was sacked the following January. A month later he re-joined to the staff at Motherwell and within a fortnight was appointed manager following the sacking of Mark McGhee.

Biography:
The son of an army major, Dick Rowley spent his childhood in a number of barracks. He excelled at a number of sports, representing Wiltshire and Hampshire at cricket, golf, tennis, 100 yards, hurdles and motoring. Further, while on active service Rowley won the DCM.

Rowley first took to football with the Fulwood Barracks team but on attending Taunton College Grammar School he was forced to switch to rugby. With his schooling over he returned to football and played as an amateur with a number of clubs and played his first League games during a brief spell with Swindon Town.

In May 1926 Rowley signed for Southampton and quickly struck an understanding with Bill Rawlings and by that November he had been awarded his first professional deal. Regarded primarily as a "schemer" capable of working space from deep, he was also an adept goalscorer. In the Saints' run to the 1927 FA Cup semi-final he scored five goals and began to attract scouts from more "glamorous" clubs. In 1929/30 he managed 25 goals in as many games, including four away to Bradford City and hattricks on successive games against Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

Capped for the first time in a 2-2 draw against Wales in February 1929, it was his role in the same fixture a year later for which Rowley is best remembered, his passes setting Ireland on the way to a 7-0 victory and Joe Bambrick to a double hattrick. Rowley scored his first international goal in front of a 40,000 crowd at Windsor Park on the occasion of his second cap - indeed he was one of the few Irish players to earn credit as Scotland "stronger in every respect" cruised to a 7-3 victory. In all Rowley won four caps while a Southampton player.

In February 1930 Tottenham had an irresistible £3,750 bid for Rowley accepted. It was not to prove a wholly successful move as he was largely restricted to the reserves though Rowley did add a further two caps to his collection while a Spurs player. When he left White Hart Lane behind after a little under two years Spurs still netted a sizable £5,000 fee from Preston North End in a deal that also included Ted Harper.

In 1932/33 Rowley laid on many of Harpers' 37 goals and claimed five himself as Preston fell well short of the Second Division promotion spots. In the following campaign the partnership was split up as Harper left to join Blackburn mid-season and injuries restricted Rowley to just five games as Preston claimed promotion to the First Division as runners-up. Unable to face a campaign in the topflight, Rowley retired in the summer of 1934.

With his playing days behind him, Rowley became a coach with the Lancashire AFA in July 1937 and in the 1940s shared his skills and knowledge with RAF Uxbridge.

Biography:
Brian McLean had won youth caps for Scotland prior to deciding to play for Northern Ireland, the country of his grandparents’ birth. An accomplished defender, he had came through the ranks at Rangers and earned his first call-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 set-up in early 2005. Injury meant that he had to wait until August for his debut, in a 2-2 draw with the Republic of Ireland.

In an effort to gain firstteam experience, McLean spent the 2005/06 season on loan at Motherwell. Initially he played in midfield or at right-back, before establishing himself alongside Northern Ireland defender, Stephen Craigan in the centre of defence. His performances earned him rave reviews and comparisons to then Well manager, and ex-Rangers and England star, Terry Butcher. Lawrie Sanchez had no qualms in including McLean in the Full Northern Ireland panel to face Portugal in November 2005, though he was an unused substitute. The following March he was again included in the squad to face Estonia, and this time he came off the bench as a half-time substitute for Craigan, in a 1-0 win.

In April 2006 McLean was named SPL Young Player of the Month for March and was due to make his competitive Under-21 debut against Liechtenstein when he was suddenly withdrawn from the squad. It emerged that he wasn’t actually eligible to play for Northern Ireland having played in a UEFA competition for Scotland at Under-17 level. Further frustration was added with the knowledge that had he played a competitive game for Northern Ireland, at any level, prior to his 21st birthday he would have been allowed to switch allegiances. The Irish FA appealed to FIFA for leniency for the player due to their own “administrative error” but to no avail. Forty-five minutes was to be the sum total of McLean’s Northern Ireland career.

After much negotiation, McLean’s move to Motherwell from Rangers was made permanent in the summer of 2006, though his second season at Fir Park season was ruined by injury. In his absence Motherwell flirted with relegation, eventually finishing six points, and two places, above relegated Dunfermline.

After three seasons, two ruptured cruciate ligaments and 27 appearances for Motherwell, McLean joined Falkirk having failed to agree a new contract at Fir Park.

Biography:

A star defender in a mediocre Cliftonville side of the early 1920s, Andy McCluggage’s efforts earned him selection for the Irish League side to face the Welsh League in 1922. In the end the match was postponed, and later abandoned altogether, meaning he was never to earn inter-league recognition. The reason he was never given a chance was his transfer to Bradford Park Avenue, then of Division Three (North) in 1922. In his first season with Park Avenue, who had only just been relegated from Division Two, McCluggage helped them to finish as runners-up, though at that time only the champions were rewarded with promotion.

Still playing in the third tier of English football, McCluggage was awarded an international cap in October 1923 as Ireland attained a famous win over England. It was second appearance at international level having played in the in-experienced Ireland side that traveled to Norway in 1922. In May 1925 he moved on to Burnley, where he got of to the worst of starts. On his debut, on the opening day of the 1925/26 season, Burnley suffered their worst ever defeat, 10-0 at Aston Villa. Despite the inglorious opening to his time at Turf Moor, McCluggage established himself as a virtually ever-present right-back for six seasons. He also proved versatile, slotting in at left-back when required, and showed all the attributes one could want from a defender – fast, he was seldom outpaced, with “swift powers of recovery”, he also knew the value of clearing the danger zone as quickly as possible. An adept penalty-taker, McCluggage’s goal ratio would also be the envy of many a more attacking player.

After over three years outside the international scene, McCluggage was recalled to the Ireland line-up in February 1927. He was first choice at right-back for the following four seasons, scoring twice in his twelve appearances. He was the 'other' goalscorer in the famous 1930 7-0 win over Wales at Celtic Park (Joe Bambrick claiming a double hattrick) and scored a penalty in a 2-2 draw against the same opposition the previous year.

McCluggage left Burnley via the ‘back-door’, signing with Free State League side Dundalk in May 1931. He made his debut in the President’s Cup final clash with Shamrock Rovers on 23 May, with the replay held over to the next season. When the replay was held on 9 September Dundalk ran out 7-3 winners, so claiming their first ever trophy. Although he left the Athletic Grounds in December 1931, after just six months and seventeen appearances, McCluggage’s contribution to Dundalk’s first trophy success was recognised with selection in the club’s “All-Time XI” selected in 1956.

Keen to return to the Football League, McCluggage secured his release from Dundalk in order to join Preston North End. The financial package arranged between the two clubs proved highly lucrative to the Railwaymen, covering all McCluggage’s wages “and left a little over’. He made his Preston debut, in a 2-2 draw at Burnley, on Christmas Day 1931. That proved to be one of just three appearances for the Deepdale club.

After leaving Preston in 1932, McCluggage played with Morecambe before returning briefly to his native Larne. Described as “bright and breezy with a friendly disposition”, he later settled in Burnley where he worked as a maintenance engineer at Huncoat Pit up to his death in 1954.

Biography:
Given his debut by Sammy McIlroy, Andy Smith made a huge impression in a defeat by Italy and a draw with Spain in June 2003. An Irish League sensation, he had overcome the disappointment of being released by Sheffield United to fire Glentoran to a plethora of successes.

Later Smith earned a move back to England, but in a three year spell with a number of clubs, failed to make an impact. He returned to Northern Ireland in 2007, marking his Portadown debut with a goal in a 2-1 win over Armagh.

In 2008, following Portadown's "relegation" from the new IFA Premiership Smith went AWOL, finally returning to playing with Ballymena for the 2009/10 season. In April 2011 he secured his release from Ballymena, reportedly with the intention of moving to Vietnam.

During the 2011/12 season he was playing for Union Royale Namur in the Belgian fourth tier. The following season he looked set to join French side, CSO Amneville, but the deal fell through. He returned to Northern Ireland when signed by ex-international colleague Michael Hughes for Carrick Rangers on the 30th August 2012, but a day later it was announced that the deal had been cancelled as he sought trials with clubs in France and Belgium.

Having spent the summer of 2013 training at the Oval Smith looked set to re-sign for the Glens, however a deal never materialised. Come January he signed for Crusaders.

In early 2015 Smith was appointed to the coaching staff at Portuguese club Setubal by his ex-Sheffield United teammate Bruno Ribeiro. Subsequently the pair worked together at Ludogorets in Bulgaria (from July 2015) and at Port Vale (from July 2016).
