Biography:
A “strong-kicking” left-back, Peter "Weezer" Warren made his name with Belfast Celtic before transferring to Sheffield Wednesday along with Paddy O’Connell for a combined fee of £50 in 1909.

Warren never really adapted to life in the Football League and played just six times for the Owls before returning to his home-city of Dublin to join Shelbourne. While with the Shels he was capped twice, as stand-in for Alex Craig during the 1912 Home Nations tournament. He later returned to England to play with Millwall.

Biography:
Inititially a half-back, it was in that role that James Williamson played in Cliftonville's 1888 Irish Cup Final win over Distillery and won the first of his three caps for Ireland.

Later Williamson converted to centre-forward, scoring for Ireland as they ran Scotland close in a 3-2 defeat in 1892. The match-up between the "Shamrock and Thistle" at Cliftonville saw Williamson replace John Peden, who had been injured facing England two weeks earlier. When Dalton centred for Williamson to score from an "oblique angle" just prior to half-time, the Irish were already two goals down.

The Scots made it 3-1 mid-way through the second half in controversial circumstances, the ball entering the net despite seemingly going over the bar. Outraged, the Irish mounted a "fierce and continual fusillade on the Scottish citadel" through to the final whistle, with a single late strike by George Gaffikin proving scant reward.

Come the spring of 1893 Williamson played two more representative matches against Scotland. The International Championship match at Parkhead proved a disappointing occasion as the Scots cruised to an easy 6-1 win. An inter-league clash between the two countries, the Irish League's first representative match, proved much happier. The Irish won 3-0 at Ulsterville, with Williamson again among the scorers.

1893 also saw Williamson appear in his third Irish Cup Final for Cliftonville. The opposition were Linfield, who were 5-0 up by half-time, though by way of consolation Williamson scored the only goal of the second half.

Biography:
Scorer of 14 goals in Distillery’s 1898/99 Irish League Championship winning campaign, Jack Waring was rewarded for his form with an Ireland call-up. He was one of five Whites players to take to the field against England in February 1899, but it was an inauspicious day for the Irish, who finished on the end of an away record 13-2 defeat.

Waring had arrived at Distillery from Dunmurry in the summer of 1897, strengthening a forward line which had lost Giddy Baird, who had been killed in an accident on the Isle of Man, and the retiring Olphie Stanfield. Despite his first-class goalscoring return, Waring left Grosvenor for Lisburn club Hilden prior to the 1899/00 campaign.

Biography:

A schoolboy and youth international, Billy Wilson was spotted playing summer football before joining Portadown as an amateur. He had a brief Irish League career where he developed into a fine attacking wing-half, before joining the Ulster-contingent at Burnley. It was Clarets teammate Jimmy McIlroy that recommended Wilson to Peter Doherty for consideration for international selection, and he was duly included in the Northern Ireland ‘B’ eleven that faced Rumania in October 1957.

By the time of the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, Wilson had returned to Ireland, signing for Linfield. While he made the provisional World Cup squad, Wilson was never to win further representative recognition. He did however win a host of honours while a Linfield player, including playing a key role in the 1961/62 Seven Trophy team and featured in the club’s earliest European adventures.
