He became a regular in Jim Magilton's Northern Ireland Under-21 side throughout the 2017 European Championship qualifying campaign. Biography:
Signed by Portadown from Dunmurry prior to their first season in senior football, left-back Tom Wilson proved a sterling player, "a very keen tackler" with "a neatness in his returns not found in every defender." His performances earned him an Amateur cap, adding to the representative honours he earned while an Intermeditae League player against the Glasgow Junior League a few years earlier. At the end of that single season with the Mid-Ulster club, Wilson earned a move to England with Stockport County and professional football.

Wilson's stay with Stockport proved brief as some mistake on the club's behalf let to him being released and he returned to Shamrock Park. He was soon on the move again, this time to Ards, where he developed into one of the club's most popular players, kicking "an excellent length" and tackling "with the sureness of an old campaigner." In 1927 he was a member of the Ards side that surprisingly defeated Cliftonville in the Irish Cup final to claim their first senior honour.

Biography:
A versatile player, Sean Ward emerged through the ranks at Glentoran playing for the Seconds at centre-back before gaining his firstteam chance as stand-in right-back. Although now most familiar in the centre of defence, in the intervening years he has also played at left-back and across midfield.

Capped at Under-18 Schools level, Ward also appeared for an Under-19 Milk Cup Select that appeared at the Croix International Tournament in France in 2003. His links to the Milk Cup continued as he played for a Northern Ireland Select against Everton in a match to celebrate the tournament's 25th anniversary in 2007. A regular at Under-21 level from 2005-2006 he also appeared for the Under-23s in their first International Challenge Tournament and in the Junior International Quadrangular Tournament in 2003.

Ward, who was vice-captain, led Glentoran to the 2013 Irish Cup. With the Glens in financial difficulties and having failed to pay their players on a regular basis over a number of months a frustrated Ward requested a transfer. He subsequently joined Linfield.

Biography:
Thomas Wilkins began his playing days with Sydenham a team made-up of "pals on and off the field". It was from there he made the short move to Glentoran where he developed into an adept left-winger with the Seconds. He made his senior debut during the 1931/32 season and scored his first goal in November 1932 against Bangor. However, firstteam appearances were few and far between, and even with the Seconds he found himself side-lined for the 1932/33 Steel Cup final. His craft was recognised with selection for the Irish Junior International side, and "he certainly didn't let the selectors down". As a player he had a "style that was attractive on the line" and could "develop some pretty movements weithout introducing frills". It was a move to Bangor, where the sea air proved a tonic, that seemingly set Wilkins career on the right path, his pace leaving less-alert and lively defenders cold and his well-timed centres providing ready ammunition "when the men in the middle are well placed". A popular player with the crowds, he earned his only Amateur cap following a move to Newry, finally earning the recognition that was predicted for him at the outset of his career.

Biography:
A highly versatile player, Lisburn-lad Frankie Watters spent over a decade at Distillery, mainly featuring at centre-half. In the late-1950s, after losing his regular firstteam place, he filled in at full-back when required and on one notable occasion he was one of four goalkeepers The Whites used against Linfield. Regular 'keeper John Kennedy was injured after ten minutes and up-stepped Watters. After conceding twice he was replaced by Gerry Brennan and then Jim Emery, both of whom also conceded two goals!

A multi-honoured representative player, Watters was a relative Irish League novice when he appeared in an amateur international against the Gold Coast at The Oval. It was two years before he was again capped at amateur level, captaining the side against a touring South African team. Inter-League honours followed in 1954 when the Scottish League put in a sublime second-half performance to defeat the Irish League 5-1 at Windsor Park. That same year Watters also featured for the Irish FA in one of their regular matches against the British Army.

After dropping from the Distillery firstteam in 1957 Watters featured regularly with the Seconds, stepping back to the senior eleven when required through to 1961. Although he played 256 games for Distillery, he failed to score a single goal. He was appointed temporary firstteam coach in December 1958 before taking charge of Distillery's reserves.
