Biography:
In the early 1900s the "gentlemen" Freebooters were among the dominant Dublin teams, supplying four internationals (for a total of ten caps). They were formed in 1898 and played until 1905/06. Their only competitive matches took place in the Irish Cup. In all they played 16 cup matches, winning 7, drawing 2 and losing 7 with a goal tally of 46-36. Harry O'Reilly was Freebooters' leading goalscorer with 11 of those goals.

Their history peaked with an appearance in the 1901 Irish Cup Final against Cliftonville. Apart from that appearance in the Final they reached the fifth round on three other occasions. Their most regular opponent was Linfield who they beat 2-1 in the semi-final in their Cup final year and also managed a 3-3 draw and two defeats. In that Irish Cup Final on the 13th April 1901 the O’Reilly brothers – Harry, John B. and Joe played alongside each other in the forward line. This is the only occasion on which three brothers played together in the forward line in an Irish Cup Final.

Harry O’Reilly made a bright start on his international debut, forcing an early save from the Scottish goalkeeper. It proved a rare bright-spot in the Irish side’s day as they collapsed to an 11-0 defeat at Parkhead in February 1901. A month later Ireland put in a much more accomplished performance, but again failed to find the net in a 1-0 defeat by Wales. During the Welsh match, O'Reilly was reportedly knocked unconscious when Wales' legendary 'keeper Leigh Roose barged him into touch - all part of the game in those days and no free-kick was awarded.

There was a three-year gap between O’Reilly’s second and third caps. He was part of an all-amateur Dublin-based forward pairing with Bohemian’s Harold Sloan. While the duo were generally outclassed by the Scottish backs, O’Reilly was credited for his hard-work in the creation of Ireland’s late equaliser. Still, that proved his final game at international level as cross-channel talent was preferred for future matches.

Biography:
A modern-day goalscoring midfielder, Michael O'Neill's cavalier style through the 1980s and 1990s earned comparisons with the inside-forwards of an era long passed - he also divided opinions on his overall effectiveness but his goal tally throughout much of his career cannot be overlooked.

O'Neill first entered management with Brechin City in April 2006 having previously been assistant at Cowdenbeath. He was linked to the manager's post at Dundee before
taking charge of Shamrock Rovers in December 2008. He led Rovers to the 2010 League title as well as to the FAI Cup final and notable European results. The following year he took Rovers into the Europa League group stages, the first Irish club to progress that far, won the Setanta Cup and also retained the League title.

O'Neill will take charge of Northern Ireland from 1st February 2012.

Biography:
Kilkenny-born centre-half Matt O'Mahoney's earliest footballing days were spent on Merseyside. After struggling to make an impact with the likes of Liverpool and New Brighton he made the breakthrough with Division Three (North) team, Southport. His impressive form alerted several big clubs, but it was Wolves that claimed his signature in May 1935.

O'Mahoney spent a season at Molineux struggling with injuries and poor form and in March 1936 he moved to Newport County. After just two months at Somerton Park, O'Mahoney was on the move again, this time joining Bristol Rovers. O'Mahoney's consistency with an Arabs team struggling in the bottom half of Division Three (South) began to attract the attentions of the international selectors.

In May 1938 he was selected by the FAI to face Czechoslovakia and Poland during a tour of Eastern Europe. The following November he won his only cap in an IFA-selected side against Scotland at Windsor park and five days after that he was back in the FAI shirt to face Poland at Dalymount Park. A regular for the FAI up to the outbreak of the Second World War, O'Mahoney collect a total of six caps from the Dublin-based association.

In the summer of 1939 O'Mahoney transferred to Ipswich Town. Although his League career was put on hold following the outbreak of the War he was Ipswich's first-choice centre-half when League football resumed in 1946. Although he missed most of the 1947/48 season, O'Mahoney was back in the team for the following campaign and in good form. His career was ended by an injury collected against Norwich on 16th October 1948.
