Biography:
Robert McGuire served a long apprenticeship in intermediate football before breaking into the senior ranks after a decade of earning his spurs.

According to the Ireland's Saturday Night there was "evidently something of the itinerant in his make-up" as they recorded a slew of club moves - Cliftonville Olympic for a "triennium"; less than a season with Ormiston; Linfield Swifts then Ulster Rangers; Dundela to Crusaders and back; and finally back to the club where he started, and senior football with Cliftonville.

"... an honest player, who gives of his best to whatever club he is attached. He is of the strong, robust type and likes to bustle into the thick of the fray... Once scenting danger he must exert himself to avert it. He plays the game strenuous in honest defence."

In the Irish League-proper, McGuire soon earned major representative honours. In his first season in senior football he was selected for the inter-league match with the Free State League at Dalymount Park. The following season he won the first of two Amateur caps as England defeated Ireland 3-0 at Solitude. He won his only other cap three years later as the Irish suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of England at Selhurst Park.

He made his senior debut in a 2-0 defeat by Hull in November 2010 and thereafter was established in the firstteam until suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during a 4-0 defeat by Bristol City in February 2011. He returned to the field early in the following season and earned his first senior Northern Ireland call-up for the October double-header with Estonia and Italy.

Biography:
The son of the late-Jimmy McKnight, and grandson of one-time Irish League president John McKnight, James Ernest McKnight came from a rich footballing pedigree.

McKnight began his career in intermediate circles. He served Park End for a short time but it was his performances with Dunmurry that brought him to higher attentions. He was considered a shoo-in for the 1931 Junior international against Scotland only to be transferred to Irish League Bangor shortly before the match.

Still a teenager when he signed for the Seasiders, McKnight hit the ground running and it was quickly predicted that further representative honours would come his way, along with a move to a more "glamorous" club. Indeed, as an amateur player, McKnight would have been free to walk away from Bangor for either of the "two city teams [who had] courted his services" at the close of the 1930/31 season.

The Ireland's Saturday Night was full of praise: "...born with football in his toes. McKnight has an abundance of cleverness, he makes the ball obey his will, and like his father before him, is as full of tricks as a cart load of monkeys." This was followed be the caveat that he was "inclined to over-elaborate" and that "if McKnight could get it into the back of his head that he has colleagues willing to carry on his good work his value to his club would improve 100 per cent."

It may have taken the young McKnight a few seasons to get this advice "into the back of his head" for it was not until February 1933 that the long-predicted international honours came his way. He was selected at inside-right for Ireland Amateurs match against England and he was "a thorn in the side of the English defence from start to finish," scoring the opener as Ireland raced into a 4-1 half-time lead before holding out to win 4-3.

McKnight's "cleverness caught the eye" of several spectators in attendance at the Amateur international in Belfast, as once again he was rumoured to be the target of several bigger clubs - including more than one English club. After two-and-a-half seasons of ignoring a number of opportunities in order to remain with Bangor, McKnight was finally enticed away in 1933. His destination was one of his father's former clubs, Glentoran.

At the Oval McKnight was able to experience some of the more prestigious events in club football. In October 1933 he played in a 1-1 draw with a touring Peru/Chile XI and, having scored in a semi-final victory over Belfast Celtic, was able to play in his first major final. Sadly, the Gold Cup decider resulted in a 1-0 defeat by Portadown. Other highlights included both goals in a 2-0 Irish Cup quarter-final win over ex-club Bangor and a hattrick in a 7-2 City Cup rout of Ards. McKnight played his final games in a Glens shirt in the end-of-season RUC five-a-side competition at Windsor Park in May 1934 as the club drastically altered the squad in preparation for the following campaign.

Biography:
A product of the famed Foyle Harps youth club, Eddie McCallion was a regular for Northern Ireland throughout their junior sides. He transferred to English Premier League side Blackburn at the age of seventeen but he stayed only briefly at Ewood Park before returning "home" to join Coleraine on loan. "Sparkling" form in the Irish League saw him selected in the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad to face Switzerland at Mourneview Park in April 1998 and he made his only appearance at that level as a substitute in a 2-1 win.

In September 1998 McCallion joined Derry City where he regularly featured at right-back or centre-back for over a decade and throughout some tumultuous times for the club. Highlights included two FAI Cup and four League Cup wins as well as a UEFA Cup run that saw French giants Paris Saint-Germain held 0-0 at the Brandywell. There were also severe financial problems during this time, culminating in the club's demotion in 2009, however they subsequently bounced straight back as First Division champions.

After nearly fourteen years at the Brandywell, McCallion was signed by Glenavon manager, and ex-Blackburn teammate, Gary Hamilton. After two-and-a-half seasons at Mourneview he moved briefly to Bangor then nearer home to Institute. His stay with Stute was brief as he returned to Derry as a coach.

Multi-honoured by Northern Ireland at representative level, prior to winning eight under-21 caps he played at the Milk Cup and was part of the squad that played at the 2005 UEFA Under-19 Championship Finals and he has since appeared for the Under-23 side that has taken part in the International Challenge Trophy.

One of the highest rated players in the Irish Premiership, McVey has remained with Coleraine despite interest from bigger clubs. With the Bannsiders he has appeared in Irish Cup and League Cup final defeats, but his only senior honours to date have come in the North West Cup.

McVey left Coleraine in May 2013 having stalled on a new contract. He subsequently joined Linfield.

As part of a financial arrangement the academy "loans" players to Spanish fourth-tier club, Jerez Industrial and as such their team was made up of mainly British and Irish players. Among the coaches that McCashin worked with in Spain was former Northern Ireland goalkeeping-coach, Dave Beasant.

McCashin returned home in January 2012 to sign for Distillery before joining Glenavon for the following campaign.

Biography:
Aiden McVeigh was just 16 when he made his debut for Glenavon during the 1999/00 season. Already a Schoolboy international, he earned a move to Scottish Division One side Ayr United, where he enjoyed some success with their youth side. He also added further Northern Ireland caps to his collection at Under-18 and Under-19 level, and featured at the 2001 Milk Cup tournament. He made his only Under-21 international appearance in a friendly against Germany at Windsor Park, coming of the bench, he was unfortunate not to score as his late header was well saved.

McVeigh spent spells on loan at Ards and with Cumnock Juniors before making his Scottish League debut towards the end of the 2002/03 season. That summer however he returned to Glenavon where he became a regular, and sometimes spectacular, goalscorer over the next few seasons. He played with Mid-Ulster sides Dungannon Swifts, Banbridge Town and Loughgall before enjoying his final season at senior level with Donegal Celtic in 2010/11.

Born in London, but raised in Fermanagh, Kieran McKenna was marked as a special talent from a young age. He played both Gaelic and football while at school and represented Fermanagh at the Milk Cup and Northern Ireland Schools before joining Tottenham on a scholarship in 2002. He signed a professional deal the following year and established himself in the reserve team in 2004/05. A combative box-to-box midfielder, also capable of filling in in defence if required, McKenna played twenty times as Spurs won the FA Premier Reserve League South title.

Coveted by the FAI, McKenna remained loyal to Northern Ireland, appearing at every youth level possible, including as captain of the Under-19s at the 2005 European Championship Finals. Promoted to the Under-21 team in 2006, he had the misfortune to be sent-off for two bookings during a 2-1 defeat by Germany on his debut. The highlight of his career at Under-21 level was a 25-yard free-kick to draw Northern Ireland level in a 2-1 victory over Finland.

From September 2007 onwards McKenna was blighted by injury and he was eventually forced to call time on his career in March 2009 due to a hip problem. Keen to remain involved in the game he decided to seek his coaching qualifications and took an appointment as a youth team coach at Spurs. In 2016 he moved to a coaching role at Manchester United's academy.
