Biography:
The regular left-half for Ireland's Amateur team for a period of five years in the early-1930s, Gerry Mitchell was noted not just for his "blockade tactics", but also for his clever play "in initiating and backing up his attack".

Mitchell began his career with Loopbridge where he played for just a few months in the forward line. He then played a few games for Dunmurry before joining Cliftonville Olympic where "his destructive and constructive qualities developed rapidly". He representated the Alliance League as centre-forward against the Stockport & District XI, his performance earning him further selections for the Alliance.

It was only after his prmotion to the Cliftonville firstteam that Mitchell began playing in the half-back line. It was in his first season of senior football, still a relative novice in the left-half role, that he earned selection for Amateur Ireland's trip to York to face England in November 1931. He retained his position for seven of Ireland's next nine Amateur international matches.

Biography:
A "celebrity" of Belfast football, Robert Mills was a "sturdy and redoubtable defender". He was "wooed" to Belfast Celtic from Chlorine. With Mills playing alongside a young Mickey Hamill the Celtic IIs had "no lack of power and resource in defence." While Hamill joined Manchester United, Mills made the less glamorous move to Dromore United, where he claimed a Beattie Cup winner's medal.

Mills was then enticed to sign for Cliftonville Olympic, but he went straight into the firstteam where he "appeared with unfailing regularity" for a decade and rose to become captain. His "dour and stubborn" defending earned him selection at left-back for the Irish War Team, which was "virtually an international eleven", that drew 0-0 with a Billy McCracken led English War Team in a charity match at Windsor Park in October 1918. In November 1919 Mills was selected at right-back for Ireland's first post-war amateur international and he captained the team the following year.

A cabinet maker by trade, Mills lived on Devonshire Street in the Falls area of Belfast before moving to Palestine Street in the "Holylands". He married Mary Elizabeth Allen on 16th November 1911 at Ballynafeigh Methodist Church.

The second is a Beattie Cup winner's medal awarded to Mills in 1911/12 while he played for Dromore United.

Biography:
One of only six players to a hit a hattrick for Amateur Ireland, Jimmy Millar began making his mark as a fifteen year-old with Avonmore in the Ballynafeigh & District League. The following season, while with 53rd Old Boys, he was honoured by the Amateur League as an inside-forward against the North West Association at Derry. He then played centre-forward against the same opposition and against Enniskillen & District the following season.

Towards the end of the 1927/28 season Millar played a few games with Crusaders, but from the start of the following season through to Christmas he was with Brantwood. He was then convinced to step up to the Irish League proper with Cliftonville. He scored “quite freely” in his opening months at the “highest level” with the Amateurs, his displays showing “him in a good light [demonstrating] plenty of dash and pluck [...] a splendid conception of a centre-forward’s duty and above all an eye for the main chance – goals.”

It was Amateur England’s visit to Belfast in November 1930 that brought the highlight of Millar’s representative career as he claimed all three of Ireland’s goals in a 3-1 win. Those were the only goals of his six cap amateur international career. His return of 110 goals for Cliftonville remains the fifth highest by a player for the club.

Millar’s father, also James, was also involved in football as a “well known referee”.

Biography:
Sammy Morrow first came to prominence as a schoolboy when, as captain, he scored the equaliser in a 2-1 win over Wales that gave Northern Ireland their first ever Victory Shield title.

One of the many players left in limbo following the financial meltdown of Derry City in the autumn of 2009, Morrow was left without a club and five months wages. He joined Dunfermline on a trial basis in late-December, and reportedly signed a contract towards the end of January. However, on the 5th February it was then revealed that he had been signed by Coleraine on an 18-month deal.

Previously Morrow played in Scotland with Hibernian, but his career was hampered by a cruciate ligament injury. After being released by Hibs in 2007 he joined hometown club, Derry City. He scored a hattrick in the 6-1 2008 League of Ireland Cup Final win over Wexford Youths and the following season collected an FAI Cup runner-up medal despite scoring twice in the final as Bohemians won on penalties.

In March 2010 Morrow was given a three month suspension by FIFA after admitting betting on a number of games in which he was involved. In the summer of 2010 he joined Tranmere Rovers on trial with a deal completed for an undisclosed fee a few days before the close of the transfer window. Having failed to make an impact at Prenton Park he was allowed to leave the following summer, joining Ross County of the Scottish First Division early in the 2011/12 season and he helped them to promotion to the top-flight for the first time. He scored three times, notably in a 3-2 win over Celtic, as County secured a top-half finish.

Morrow was released in the summer of 2013. He later emerged at Linfield as one of Warren Feeney's first signings. He was released after a disappointing single season, returning for another spell at Coleraine shortly thereafter where once again he failed to live up to expectations. Morrow was released mid-way through the 2016/17 season to allow him to join Institute.
