Biography:
Shane Duffy, a product of Everton's Academy system, is a big defender, strong in the tackle and dependable in the air. He moved to Merseyside in November 2007 and signed as a scholar at Goodison the following summer.

Capped by Northern Ireland as a youth, he was part of the successful 2008 Milk Cup Under-19 squad. In May 2009, still just 17 years-old, he was called into the B squad against Scotland and a month later was included in the full squad to face Italy in Pisa. In August he put in an impressive performance in an Under-21 friendly against Portugal, confidently slotting home a second-half penalty.
..
Duffy made it on to the Everton substitutes bench for the opening game of the 2008/09 Premier League season. He made his Toffees debut against AEK Athens in the Europa League on 2 December 2009.
..
On 22 February 2010 Duffy was included in the Northern Ireland squad for a friendly in Albania. He withdrew from the squad the same day, announcing that he would rather play his international football for the Republic of Ireland, the country of his father's birth. He suffered a life threatening liver injury after a collision during a Republic of Ireland training match in May 2010, though gladly no permanent damage appears to have been done.

Biography:
Hugh Davey, a native of Newry, joined Blackburn Rovers Academy at the age of sixteen. A big and powerful central defender or left-back his grandfather (also Hugh) was capped by Northern Ireland in the 1920s and was also briefly on the books at Ewood Park and his father (Con) and uncles (Pat and Terry) also played in the Irish League and League of Ireland.

A Northern Ireland Schoolboy international, Davey was spotted by Blackburn playing for Co. Armagh during the Milk Cup and invited for trials. His performances also earned him a place in the Northern Ireland Select that travelled to California to compete in the 1999 Blast Soccer Tournament. The team, which also included the likes of Sammy Clingan, Michael McGovern and Michael Ward, won the prestigious trophy.

Davey, who completed his schooling at Preston College while with Blackburn, returned to Ireland to join UCD where he earned a sports scholarship. While with The Students Davey earned three Under-21 caps as a left-sided midfielder, scoring in a 3-1 win over Armenia, and also played at Under-23 level. In May 2004 he appeared for an Eircom League Under-21 side in a Four Nations Semi-Professional Tournament in Aberdeen.

In August 2004 Davey moved to the USA to study Aviation Business Administration at Embry-Riddle, Florida. He spent three seasons as a regular central defender for the College's team, The Eagles, earning selection for All-Region, All-Conference and All-American teams.

Davey also played Eircom League football with Bray Wanderers and was with Dublin City when they disbanded during the 2006 season. He then concentrated on Gaelic football, representing Down, until returning to soccer with Glenavon on 26th December 2009. After fourteen appearances at left-back, including one from the bench in the Mid-Ulster Cup final win over Loughgall, Davey was released by Glenavon at the end of the 2009/10 season. He re-joined UCD, playing for their Leinster Senior League team.

Biography:
A commanding central-defender or right-back, Joe Dolan came through the Northern Ireland under-age set-up whilst a teenager with Chelsea and then Millwall, eventually winning seven Under-21 caps through 1999 and 2000.

Dolan made an early breakthrough into the Millwall first-team, making close to 60 first-team appearances before his twenty-first birthday. However, a series of major injuries, including a broken leg and knee ligament problems, limited Dolan to a handful of appearances over three years.

Dolan struggled to re-find his form and slowly drifted down the Leagues after his release by Millwall in May 2005.

Biography:
Born at Walker's Place, Londonderry to Edward and Bridget (nee Doherty), Barney Donaghey started his playing career with Derry Celtic as an 18 year-old. Not a prolific goalscorer, he managed about 50 goals in a career that took him from Derry to Belfast and on to Edinburgh, Lancashire and back to Derry again.

Donaghey opened his goalscoring account for Derry Celtic with 2 goals in the 3-3 draw with Cliftonville in the Irish League in September 1900. In his short spell with Ulster he scored a goal in a Charity Cup match in April 1902 while on his debut for Belfast Celtic on 30/08/1902 he scored a goal in the 4-2 defeat of Linfield and followed up with another goal in the 2-0 defeat of his previous club Derry Celtic on the 4th October 1902.

Undoubtedly the most famous player at Derry Celtic he played twice for the Irish League team while in their colours. His one full International appearance possibly brought him under notice from Hibernian in Scotland as three of their players were in the Scottish team. After playing for the Irish League against the Football League at Manchester on the 14th October 1905 he was signed by the United club to the end of the season.

During the Great War Donaghey served in the 1st Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916, leaving behind his wife of two years, Sarah (nee Maguire). He is buried at Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval.
