Biography:
Kevin Ramsey won a single Northern Ireland Under-21 cap when he played in the first half of a 1-0 win over Scotland at his home ground, Drumahoe, in May 2006.

A former Celtic youth team player, Ramsey returned to Northern Ireland in 2003 when he joined Ballymena United. Big things were expected from the teenager but, although given an early chance, he stayed only briefly at Warden Street before moving closer to home to play with Limavady. In 2004/05, his only full season with the Roesiders, Ramsey scored twenty goals and claimed a North West Cup winner's medal following a 2-0 final win over Institute.

Ramsey moved on to Stute that summer and although he managed a respectable tally of seven goals in 21 games, the club were relegated from the Premier League. He remained at Drumahoe for the following season firing home a total of 15 goals as an immediate return to the top-flight was secured. He also claimed five goals when coming from the bench as Stute came from behind to win 7-2 in a Carnegie Intermediate League Cup match against Queen's. Dundela were defeated 2-1 in the final at Dungannon.

In July 2007 Ramsey joined Finn Harps. He suffered an early set-back as he suffered a fourth broken ankle in two years and he never really hit form during eighteen months at Finn Park. A return to Institute in January 2009 saw a return to form as he managed eleven goals in the second half of the 2009/09 season. In May 2010 Ramsey missed a penalty in the promotion/relegation play-off against Donegal Celtic as Stute lost 1-0 on aggregate to go down.

Biography:
Tony O’Doherty’s class was spotted early by those in control of the Irish game. Combining part-time football with his job as a clerk he was honoured by the Irish League and was selected as captain of the Northern Ireland Under-23 side that faced Italy in March 1969 – this despite the presence in the team of Allan Hunter, Pat Rice and Brian Hamilton. The Italians won 2-1, but Billy Bingham was impressed enough to include O’Doherty in the panel for that season’s Home Nations Championship.

Capable of playing as either a creative wing-half or as a centre-back lynch-pin, O’Doherty had to wait until April 1970 for his first Full cap. That came as a midfielder, in front of 100,000 people at Wembley, as Northern Ireland lost 3-1. Four days later he made his only other international appearance, as a second half substitute for Billy Campbell, in a 1-0 defeat by Wales in Swansea.

With Bertie Peacock’s highly successful Coleraine side of the late-sixties and early-seventies, O’Doherty collected a clutch of medals and a host of admirers. He was continuously linked with moves across the Irish Sea, but so valued was he by Coleraine that they stuck a £20,000 valuation on his head.

O’Doherty rejected all overtures from full-time football, and when he did leave the Showgrounds in 1971 it seemed that he had given-up the game altogether. He re-emerged with Finn Harps a year later and is still regarded as one of the greatest ever players to grace the field at Finn Park and was a key member of the Harps side that won the 1974 FAI Cup, their only major honour. During O’Doherty’s time with the club they also finished runners-up in the League of Ireland three times and in the League Cup twice.

After nearly 200 appearances for Harps, O’Doherty left for Dundalk. Although he spent only a season at Oriel Park, he is fondly remembered, for it was another remarkable campaign for Jim McLaughlin’s men. The FAI Cup, President’s Cup and League Cup were all won, runners-up spot in the League was claimed and a UEFA Cup match-up with Porto was lost narrowly, 1-0 on aggregate.

Later O’Doherty played for Ballymena and for Derry City in their first season in the League of Ireland, helping them to the First Division Shield. He was also manager at the Brandywell from October 1993 to December 1994. Since severing his ties with the everyday game, O’Doherty has worked as a football pundit and is active in community relations in the Derry area.

Biography:
Ray Gaston was a forward who had two bites of the Football League cherry, but it was with Bertie Peacock's Coleraine side of the 1960s that he made his name.

Having tried his luck with Wolves as a teenager, Gaston returned to a Coleraine side regularly challenging for the top honours. Although he failed to claim any major medals, the North-West Cup aside, Gaston impressed enough for Oxford United to take a chance on him, handing over a £12,500 fee early in the 1968/69 season.

The Manor Ground was never a happy hunting ground for Gaston, and he found the net just twice in his first season, and he made his final appearance for the club against Cardiff City in February 1969.

On the international front that season, Gaston made his only Full appearance for Northern Ireland in a 3-2 friendly win over Israel, coming on as a 70th minute substitute for Derek Dougan. That same season he also added an Under-23 Cap to his collection.

The 1969/70 season saw Gaston stuck in the Oxford United Reserves, and he made his final Football League appearances whilst on loan to Lincoln City in the Fourth Division in February 1970. Gaston moved back home in the summer of 1970. Over the following few seasons he played with Coleraine, Ballymena and Finn Harps with some success.
