Biography:
Tony Kane was involved in a tug-of-war between the IFA and FAI. After representing Northern Ireland as a Youth before gaining caps at Under-21 level for the Republic of Ireland. He was called into the Northern Ireland squad by Nigel Worthington for a match against Sweden in October 2007, and although he never claimed full international honours, he did earn five Northern Ireland Under-21 caps.
During five years on the books at Blackburn Rovers, Kane remained on the fringes of the first team without making an appearance. He did spend loan spells at a number of clubs, including Cercle Brugge in Belgium and at Carlisle United before being released in 2009. He then joined Carlisle on a permanent deal, but made only a handful of appearances for the Cumbrian club.
Kane was released by Carlisle United in January 2011. Cliftonville signed him the following month ahead of interest from Glentoran and Portadown. He marked his Reds debut with a goal in a 2-0 win over Newry City. He moved on to Ballymena the following season, and in November 2012 was part of their Co Antrim Shield winning side.

Biography:Jimmy O’Neill made a sensational breakthrough at Sunderland in the second half of the 1961/62 season. On his debut, against Bristol Rovers in January 1962, he scored twice in a 6-1 win. He was then dropped for the next game. A month later he made a scoring return to the first eleven, but was again dropped for the next match. He was then given a five game run in the side that yielded three goals, but that proved to be it for his Roker Park career. The man who prevented O’Neill from having a sustained impact in the Sunderland number nine shirt? Brian Clough, whose return of 54 goals from 61 matches in the famous red-and-white-stripes perhaps excuses O’Neill’s under-utilisation.
Of course Northern Ireland couldn’t ignore a player of such striking ability and in February 1962 he led the line for the Under-23 team that drew 0-0 with Wales. Two months later he again faced Wales for his Full international debut, this time however he finished on the end of a 4-0 defeat. Also capped while a schoolboy at Larne Tech, O’Neill was raised in Magheramorne on the shores of Larne Lough. He was first sent to Sunderland in 1957, signing on his sixteenth birthday in November 1961. He left Roker Park, frustrated, in December 1962, signing with Walsall. Ironically, that very month, Clough suffered an injury that effectively ended his career – what might have been?
O’Neill had joined a Walsall side struggling in the relegation places in Division Two. He was generally employed by the Saddlers in an advanced “midfield” role, scoring seven times in twenty appearances in that first campaign. The most notable of those goals was the winner against a Chelsea side set for promotion and featuring England ‘keeper Peter Bonetti. Still, it was not enough, and Walsall dropped in to Division Three. Noted as a player of high quality, who on his day could light up any match, O’Neill’s impact on Division Three was limited by injury and illness to just eighteen appearances and six goals in two seasons.
In 1965 O’Neill moved to Australia, playing two seasons with Hakoah. He returned to England for a brief Football League swansong with Fourth Division Darlington. Later he had a brief but prolific spell with Coleraine before a second spell with Hakoah.

Biography:
Lanky striker of immense promise, Kyle Lafferty has already been marked for greatness. Handed his international debut during the 2006 US Tour, he played in that summer’s Milk Cup Tournament, then promptly scored his first Full international goal at the start of the 2006/07 season.
Highly sought after, Celtic and Wolves both made substantial bids for Lafferty. It was Rangers, the team he supported as a boy, that claimed his signature in a deal worth over £3 million in June 2008. He helped Rangers to three titles in four seasons.
With Rangers financial meltdown during 2012, Lafferty left the club for Swiss side, FC Sion. After a turbulent season in Switzerland he became just the second Northern Ireland international (after Joshua Sloan) to feature in Italy by joining Union Sportiva Città di Palermo. He was voted fans' player of the year and helped Palermo to the Serie B title in his only season in Italy.
In June 2014 Lafferty joined Norwich in a deal reported to be worth €6 million.
Lafferty won his 50th cap against Belarus in May 2016.

First called into the Northern Ireland squad in 2002, Michael Ingham was set for his debut during the 2004 Caribbean Tour only to be ruled out through injury. He had to wait another year for his first cap against Germany in the Irish FA's 125th Anniversary gala match, thus bringing a windfall to Cliftonville due to an add-on clause in the deal that took him to Sunderland six years earlier.
..
Further caps were added to Ingham's collection during the US Tour in 2006 and in a friendly with Wales in February 2007, but he fell out of the international reckoning as he struggled for regular firstteam action in the lower leagues. He was in good form with York City as they reached the 2009/10 Blue Square Premier play-off final and indicated his disappointment at not being considered by Nigel Worthington for an international recall.
In 2012 York finally returned to the Football League, adding the FA Trophy for good measure. Ingham remained in goal as they retained their league status thanks to a late-season push under the stewardship of Nigel Worthington who was a late-season appointment following a poor run of results.
York were eventually relegated from the Football League in 2016. Although Ingham had been offered a new contract with the club he decided to move on. He joined Tadcaster Albion and took a role as goalkeeping coach with the club's owners, i2i Sports.
