Biography:
Young striker who's progress at Aston Villa was slowed by serious injury. Described by Steve Beaglehole as "technically good and adaptable" big things had been expected of him prior to undergoing knee reconstruction surgery and he had been training with the Villa firstteam before his seventeen month enforced absence. By early 2010 he had given up hopes of ever making it as a professional and had taken the decision to retire.

Encouraged by his family to give it another go, McGurk joined Hednesford Town where he played under former Northern Ireland midfielder, Bernard McNally. He then signed for Tranmere Rovers, initially on a non-contract basis and established himself over the next few seasons.

After starring at youth level for Northern Ireland, McGurk's only appearance for the Under-21 team lasted just 38 minutes as he struggled to make an impact as he was in the middle of an abortive return from a succession of serious and niggling injuries which included shin splints and as well as torn knee ligaments.

Good form in the 2012/13 season saw a first senior call-up for the February friendly against Malta. His contract with Tranmere expired in the summer of 2013 and he was targeted by several higher-tier clubs but eventually signed with League Two side Burton Albion. In 2015 he joined Portsmouth on a two year deal. He remained at Fratton Park for just a year before joining Cambridge United. He spent 2017/18 with Morecambe and his five goals helped them to avoid relegation from the EFL but he was released as the campaign ended.

Biography:
Exciting young Cliftonville forward, Liam Boyce has been linked with moves across the water and further afield. He transferred to Werder Bremen on August 2010 deadline day.

Boyce made his Cliftonville debut on 1st October 2008 against Glentoran and scored his first goal in a 2-2 draw with Linfield towards the end of that season. The following season he finished as the Reds' top scorer, his goals firing the team to the runners-up spot in the Carling Premiership and earning him the Ulster Young Footballer of the Year title. He was also awarded the Goal of the Season award for a strike against Distillery. He opened the 2010/11 season in fine form, scoring in a Europa League qualifier against CSKA Sofia.

In the summer of 2010 Boyce spent time training with Celtic and a move to German Second Division team, SpVgg Greuther Fürth after a successful trial stalled at the final hour. He returned to Cliftonville where he made, what turned out to be, his final appearance against Crusaders on 27th August as he scored in a 3-1 win. Within days he was back in Germany, making a dream move to one of the giants of European football, Werder Bremen. He has been named in Werder's reserve/under-23 squad who play in the 3. Liga, the third tier in the German pyramid.

Boyce made his senior international debut as a late substitute in a 3-0 Carling Nations Cup defeat by Scotland in Dublin on 9th February 2011.

It was announced during the summer of 2011 that Bremen would allow Boyce to leave if a suitable deal could be agreed. He subsequently spent trial periods with Oxford United and Bologna and eventually returned from Germany after being released from his contract that October. He then spent an unsuccessful trial spell at Kenny Shiels' Kilmarnock before eventually returning to Cliftonville.

On his return to Cliftonville Boyce quickly rediscovered his form and revealed a versatility not previously witnessed by Irish League followers. His goals set a club record and fired the Reds to the title and an Irn Bru League Cup win in 2012/13 and saw his name linked with a move back to full-time football. He remained at Solitude for another year as the Reds claimed consecutive titles for the first time in their history and traveled with the Northern Ireland squad that toured South America, though didn't make it on to the field.

Shortly after his return from international duty Boyce was signed by Scottish Premiership side, Ross County. He spent much of his first season building fitness before establishing himself in the closing months of the campaign and he then re-established himself in the Northern Ireland squad. By the 2015/16 season he was among the most feared strikers in the Scotland, and he was topscorer with four strikes as County won the League Cup, though he was unable to find the net in a 2-1 final win over Hibernian. He was unfortunate to miss out on a place in Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 finals squad as his form dipped late in the season following an injury.

Boyce returned to his goalscoring ways early in the 2016/17 season, regained his place in the international set-up and was awarded the SPFL Player of the Month award for August. His good form continued throughout the season and with 23 goals he finished as the Premiership's topscorer, which included a four goal haul against Inverness in April as he collected another monthly award.

In the summer of 2017 Boyce moved to English Championship side Burton Albion for a fee reported to be the highest ever paid by the club.

Biography:
Robbie Weir scored his first Irish Premier League goal for Larne as a fifteen year-old in a 5-2 win over Crusaders in October 2004. By February he had agreed a move to England, Sunderland beating the likes of Fulham, Rangers and Stoke to his signature. He played his final game for Larne in their 2005 Irish Cup final defeat by Portadown.
..
Weir made his senior debut in English football during a loan spell at Blue Square Bet Premier side, York City, where he played in the same team as Northern Ireland keeper, Michael Ingham. In February 2011 Weir then joined Tranmere on loan until the end of the season before making the deal permanent in May.

After a full season with Tranmere Weir moved on to Burton Albion and he helped them to successive promotions in 2015 and 2016 that saw them arrive in the Championship for the first time. However, he had lost his place in the starting eleven mid-way through the 2015/16 campaign and was released that summer. He then dropped down to League Two with Leyton Orient where he was immediately appointed captain.

Biography:
A young stocky striker, Billy Kee spent 2009/10 on loan at Accrington Stanley from Leicester City. He was part of the Northern Ireland side that claimed the 2009 Milk Cup Elite title and in September 2009, still just eighteen, he was called into the senior Northern Ireland squad. He was disappointed to be released by Leicester in May 2010 but quickly signed for Torquay United. In August 2011 he scored his first goals at  Under-21international level, a virtuoso hattrick against the Faroe Islands, so becoming the first Northern Ireland player to score three in a match at that level.  Early in the 2011/12 season Kee left Torquay for personal reasons. He move closer to "home" by joining Burton Albion for a fee believed to be around £20,000 and a startling run of goalscoring form saw him crowned Football League Young Player of the Month for October. In August 2014 he moved on to Scunthorpe for a fee believed to be around £250,000, earning Torquay a further £80,000 through a sell on clause. He failed to start a league game or score a goal for the Iron and joined Mansfield on a three-month loan deal mid-season.

Biography:
A free-scoring attacking player in lower-league football, Birmingham-born Jamie Ward played in the FA Youth Cup final with Aston Villa and captained their reserves but was released in 2006.

Qualifying for Northern Ireland through his grandfather, Ward has played at Youth and Under-21 level and was long touted for Full international recognition.

In January 2008 Barnsley had a £400,000 bid for Ward accepted by Chesterfield. A move seemed likely as he was to become a free agent in the summer but personal terms could not be agreed. Derby County also showed an interest, but it was Sheffield United that claimed his signature.

After initial good form with the Blades Ward's goals dried up and mid-way through the 2010/11 season he joined Derby County on loan in a deal that became permanent at the end of the season.

Ward was awarded his first call-up to the senior Northern Ireland squad in March 2009. Despite good club form he was overlooked for two years, sparking rumours of a falling out with Nigel Worthington. He was re-called to the squad in August 2011, making his long-awaited international début as a late sub against the Faroe Islands.

Since the appointment of Michael O'Neill, Ward has been a regular in the Northern Ireland squad when not injured. He bundled home his first international goal from close range to give Northern Ireland the lead against Portugal in a pulsating World Cup Qualifier in September 2013, though sadly a Ronaldo hattrick saw the Portuguese leave Windsor Park victorious.
