Biography:
A burly, commanding, tough, uncompromising centre-back, Gery Taggart's career followed closely that of Neil Lennon.

More to follow.

After years of injury problems Gerry Taggart had seemingly hung up his boots in 2006 to concentrate on coaching - he had been part of the coaching staff at Stoke before being released as a player that May. He returned to Leicester where he worked towards his badges. In February 2007 he made a playing comeback with Haslingden St Mary's (playing in the 11th tier of the English 'pyramid') before joining Conference side Tamworth in May. He played just two games for the Lambs before returning to Leicester as firstteam coach in September 2007. He was briefly joint caretaker-manager from October to November that year. He remained on the Foxes coaching staff, including taking charge of the reserve team, until June 2010 when he was appointed assistant-manager at Oldham Athletic. With the Latics he will be working under former Leicester teammate, Paul Dickov. He was one of three members of the Oldham coaching staff placed in "gardening leave" at Christmas 2012, with his future guaranteed as being away from Boundary Park when Dickov quit in February 2013. The pair teamed-up again at Doncaster Rovers when Taggart was appointed chief scout, but he left that role in October 2015 shortly after Dickov was sacked.

I love your goal against Germany, a stunning one. I was at bar in Belfast, half of people cheered including me.
